EDITORIAL SERVICES
Manuscript preparation
A comprehensive treatment of the manuscript to improve structure, coherence, flow and consistency before final proofreading and page layout.
WHEN MANUSCRIPT PREPARATION HELPS
A consistent manuscript from beginning to end
When a manuscript still needs organization, consistency or greater flow, manuscript preparation takes place before final proofreading. The work considers the book as a whole, improves the reading experience and establishes consistent criteria without erasing authorship.
Structure and hierarchy
Chapters, titles, subtitles, notes and other elements are organized to make the reading journey clear and functional.
Coherence and flow
Repetition, gaps, transitions and unclear passages are addressed to improve the connections between ideas and sections of the text.
Editorial consistency
Spellings, acronyms, references, quotations, emphasis and conventions receive consistent treatment, recorded to guide the next stages.

EDITORIAL PROJECT
Um sargento de 32: manuscript preparation for a historical work
The publication of Um sargento de 32, by José Wagner Cabral de Azevedo, was made possible through collaboration between Ana Sesso and the author. The project involved everything from working on the manuscripts in .doc format to researching images at the Mausoléu do Ibirapuera, including attending the parade on July 9, 2016.
Ana Lúcia Sesso took part in the stages needed to ensure that the final result exceeded the expectations of the author and publisher.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Before requesting manuscript preparation
What is the difference between manuscript preparation and proofreading?
Manuscript preparation works more broadly on the structure, flow, coherence and consistency of the manuscript. Proofreading usually follows, focusing on language accuracy and remaining inconsistencies.
How are the deadline and fee determined?
We assess length, complexity, format, the level of editing and the desired date. Based on that assessment, we propose the scope, schedule and fee.
When should manuscript preparation take place?
Preferably after the manuscript has been consolidated and before final proofreading and page layout. The sequence can be adjusted to suit the project’s workflow and needs.
Is the writer’s voice preserved?
Yes. The work aims to improve the reading experience without changing the character of the text. Sensitive changes and editorial decisions are flagged for discussion.
